Maison en Montagne

Construction: 1984
Photos: Clifford Chatelain
The photos shared by M Chatelain feature the living-dining area with a wide arch, custom-made windows crafted in Haiti, and triangular architectural elements.
• The rear of the property includes a garden and notable outbuildings.
• Specific materials and techniques were used: bricks shaped on-site and a structural system based on triangles.
• Although Villedrouin generally leaves the concrete, bricks and stones of his buildings unadorned, the
magenta beams in this house are bold dashes of color that he fully approves of. The architect appreciates the pop of color that accentuates the wide opening overlooking the view.
• The load-bearing vault rests on a system of slender steel rods, illustrating a robust design based on compression, with prefabricated slabs ensuring horizontality.
